Waw,, Google Buat "Drive" Untuk Hard Disk Online

Google tak mau ketinggalan untuk meramaikan layanan penyimpanan data berbasis komputasi awan (cloud computing). Raksasa mesin pencari ini kabarnya akan memberi layanan penyimpanan online bernama Drive.

Kabar ini datang dari harian Wall Street Journal, Rabu (8/2/2012), yang mendapatkan informasi dari sumber tepercaya. Sebagai pemilik sistem operasi Android, Google tentu merespons kebutuhan pengguna perangkat mobile yang hendak menyimpan data secara online.

Drive akan memungkinkan penggunanya mengunggah dokumen, foto, dan video ke server Google. Data-data itu juga bisa di-share ke orang lain jika si pemiliknya mengizinkan.

Seperti layanan komputasi awan pada umumnya, Drive dapat digunakan secara gratis. Namun, jika seseorang ingin mendapatkan kapasitas penyimpanan data yang lebih besar, maka ada biaya tambahan.

Harian Wall Street Journal mengabarkan, Drive akan dirilis dalam beberapa bulan ke depan. 

Drive bisa menjadi lawan kuat untuk pemain lama di layanan komputasi awan, seperti Dropbox. Pasalnya, Google bisa saja mengintegrasikan Drive dengan layanan Google yang lainnya, seperti Google Music ataupun YouTube. 

Terlebih, Google telah memiliki layanan pengolahan data perkantoran berbasis web Google Docs.

Tahun ini, vendor-vendor tersebut telah menyiapkan produk terbaiknya, yang tentu saja akan dibekali prosesor quad core dan berbagai fitur dan teknologi terbaik yang mereka miliki.

Android is Better than the IPhone in Europe
